When Breslow, Morrison and Terzian became Big Monster Toys in 2003, I was asked to design a monster character to become the mascot and logo for the renamed company. After several design iterations, including life-sized foamcore mockups, the Big Monster was born.
My fellow designer and frequent collaborator Dino Crisanti built the life-sized sculpture that looks out BMT's massive yellow door, and which has become a landmark of Chicago's West Loop neighborhood.
BMT also donated an interactive sculpture of the monster to Comer Children's hospital (again created by Dino Crisanti), where "Remoc" has become a beloved mascot of the hospital, brought to life as plush toys and a costumed performer at every Chicago Sky WNBA home game.
It's been amazing to see something I helped design take on a life of it's own.
